When a site administrator manually clicks the performance scan button inside the WordPress dashboard, the URL of the page being tested is sent to Google PageSpeed Insights API in order to generate the performance report.
The PageSpeed scan does not run automatically when the page is opened.
The data sent to Google for this scan is the URL of the page or website being tested. Google may process this URL according to its own privacy policy and terms of service.
The PageSpeed report result is cached inside WordPress for a limited period, such as 7 days, to reduce repeated requests and improve the user experience.
